Lancelot, in love with Guinevere who is the wife of King Arthur, goes off to find her after she has been captured by Maleagant. The love of Lancelot of the Lake for the queen makes him impure and prevents him from accomplishing the quest for the Grail.
The sculpture evokes the magic of the novel, capturing the blissful moment when lovers are reunited.
“While I was working the earth, I wanted to model a back, then a neck, then the idea came to create a second back and to intertwine the two necks. The mediaeval spirit is born from the shape of the hair and the faces.”
