The african woman

Story of bronze

Lucy is the oldest of humanity’s ancestors. She died falling from a tree, with her body being found in a riverbed. Here, she is depicted as graceful, with an outstretched shoulder evoking a serpent coiled up in the sun.

The african woman

“I began by modelling a small head leaning on its shoulder. Her sweet little face and her tattoos transported me to Africa.”
