The Scribe paints, writes, classifies and takes inventories… He is the memory of ancient civilisations. The lines surrounding him are a reference to the mummies wrapped in strips of cloth, as well as conjuring up a vision of the universe, with circles and curves that close, open and link one world to another.
“From the very beginning, I envisioned the figure sitting cross-legged, I imagined his posture and his concentration. I was expecting to sculpt a book or a parchment, but my wooden tool turned the lines of his knowledge into circles. The movement of the wheel did the rest…”
