Story of bronze
La Parque is a representation of the three goddesses who preside over the destiny of death – one threading, one unwinding and one cutting the “thread of life”. La Parque is a Valkyrie, choosing the dead.
The statue draws its inspiration from tarot cards and also from the lines of the universe which cover its body, draped in a large celestial cape.
“First, I modelled a roundish body, then I kneaded my earth like pastry, stretching it out, flattening it then placing this pastry like a coat over the figure.”
