Worshipped by the Philistines, Dagon was represented with a man’s head and the tail of a fish. Atéhel sculpted him like a wise old man, a recluse who, one morning, emerged from his cave to bask in the sun like a lizard… Dagon is the myth of the origins of life, the union of the land and the seas.
“I was working on a bust and the bone structure of the face began to age suddenly beneath my fingers. The bottom of the bust began to form hips, and instinctively I began to put scales at that level.”
